2520 Prytania St Garden District

Gilmour House

This 1853 mansion is one of the earliest examples of Italian architecture in the city. It is the first asymmetrical house in the area, and was home to Louisiana Governor John Milliken. Theodore Roosevelt stayed here as Milliken's guest. They were friends and hunting companions and took several small expeditions together.
