The Mississippi River used to be well-traveled by hundreds of steamboats - paddlewheelers pushed through the strong currents by high-pressured steam from twin boilers. Today, there are only two left. One of those is right here in New Orleans, the Steamboat Natchez. Three times per day, this steamer offers a chance to ride a piece of history. Enjoy a narrated history tour with or without lunch on the 11:30am or 2:30pm jazz cruise sailings, or a dinner and jazz cruise (dinner optional) with incredible jazz by the Grammy nominated Dukes of Dixieland. You can visit the museum-quality working engine room and watch this powerful steam engine at work as it pushes you up and back on the mighty Mississippi.
