Though technically outside the French Quarter (right across N Rampart St at the top of the Quarter), we've included Armstrong Park in our French Quarter list because it's a great park within walking distance of anywhere in the Quarter.
This 32-acre park in the Treme neighborhood is one of the most beautifully-landscaped parks in New Orleans, and offers a haven from the hustle and bustle of the Quarter. Ponds and creeks, arching bridges, monuments and statues, walking paths, and benches make this park a beautiful spot to stroll. The famous Armstrong arch entryway to the park is one of the best photo ops in the city. The park also hosts the New Orleans Municipal Auditorium, the Mahalia Jackson Theater, and several buildings belonging to the New Orleans Jazz Historical Park.
Every time I close my eyes blowing that trumpet of mine, I look right into the heart of good old New Orleans. It has given me something to live for. ~Louis Armstrong
