Audubon Zoo

6500 Magazine St Audubon

Audubon Nature Institute's massive Audubon Zoo is an accredited Association of Zoos & Aquariums facility, and has a partnership with the San Diego Zoo. This beautiful zoo is laid out in an animal-friendly way, and features different sections, such as Jaguar Jungle, Asia, Africa, the Louisiana Swamp, and much more. The large environments are established for rehab and protection of the animals, and the zoo even features an aquatic area with sea lions, etc. Guide to NOLA highly recommends this for families with children, and the attached Cool Zoo water park (open during the summer months) is a great way for everyone to cool off from the heat. The zoo is ranked as one of the top 10 in the United States, and even inspired the popular jazz tune, "They All Ask'd for You." The zoo has a free shuttle at the Audubon Park stop on the St Charles Streetcar Line, making it easily accessible by streetcar.
